McDonald’s KPop Demon Hunters Meals: A Firsthand Review

12

McDonald’s is now offering limited-edition meals tied to the hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters, featuring menu items inspired by the movie’s fictional groups. The HUNTR/X Meal and the Saja Boys Breakfast Meal are available at participating locations, but demand is high, so fans should act quickly.

Flavor First: What to Order (and Skip)

The HUNTR/X Meal centers around 10-piece chicken McNuggets, but the real draw is the new seasoning and sauces. Ramyeon McShaker fries, coated in a savory blend of soy, garlic, sesame, and spice, are a surprising hit. While seasoned fries might seem risky to some, the flavor profile is addictive.

Two new sauces accompany the meal: Hunter sauce, a mild chili-garlic blend similar to McDonald’s sweet-and-sour sauce, and Demon sauce, a bolder mustard-based option with a noticeable kick. Most reviewers preferred the Hunter sauce, with the Demon sauce considered less appealing.

The HUNTR/X Meal also includes the Derpy McFlurry, a vanilla soft serve blended with berry popping boba. Availability can be spotty due to ice cream machine issues, but if you find one, it’s reportedly a smooth, sweet treat, despite the “boba skin” aftertaste.

Breakfast with Bite: The Saja Boys Meal

The Saja Boys Breakfast Meal features a Spicy Saja McMuffin with a fiery sauce that’s not for the faint of heart. The sauce is hot and slightly sweet, but many found it overpowering. The meal also includes hash browns and a small drink.

Each meal comes with a collectible photocard (Jinu or Zoey) and a QR code promising future digital content on April 26th. However, the code currently leads to a dead end in the McDonald’s app.

Limited Run: Don’t Hesitate

These meals are available “while supplies last,” so interested fans should order soon. The menu is a unique cross-promotion that merges fast food with pop culture, though the lack of collectible extras (like the Grinch Meal socks) is a minor disappointment.

Overall, the Ramyeon McShaker fries, Hunter sauce, and Derpy McFlurry are the standouts, while the Demon sauce and Spicy Saja McMuffin might be worth skipping. If you’re a fan of KPop Demon Hunters, the meals are a fun novelty; otherwise, stick to the classics.
